Classical Concert I (August 10, Tower Theatre) includes a new work called “Toward the Splendid City” – a beautiful portrait of New York City by the modern composer Richard Danielpour, Gershwin’s timeless “Rhapsody in Blue” featuring piano soloist, and two epic Bernstein pieces: the complete ballet “Fancy Free” plus his “Prelude, Fugue and Riffs” with a lively jazz ensemble.
Classical Concert II (August 12, Great Hall) showcases classical favorites with a Beethoven overture, Mozart clarinet concerto, and Schumann symphony.
“Discover the Symphony” Concert (August 13, Great Hall) is a fantastic family-centric opportunity to learn what the Sunriver Music Festival is all about while also getting a sampler of the music from each of this season’s concerts.
Classical Concert III (August 15, Great Hall) features a dulcimer concerto and Mendelssohn’s “Scottish Symphony” plus classic sounds of American landscapes with “Ashokan Farewell” and Copland’s complete “Appalachian Spring Suite”.
Classical Concert IV (August 22, Great Hall) is a beautiful evening of keyboard music with a piano concerto, a Brandenberg concerto, and Beethoven symphony to close out this celebratory season!
